IMAGE FEATHER TOOL

Turn a hard crop into a soft blend

Start with ellipse feathering, then switch to rectangle edges, select specific sides, or reverse the effect.

SOFT EDGES

Keep the subject.
Lose the hard boundary.

What does image feathering do?

Feathering gradually lowers edge opacity. The center stays clear while the boundary becomes transparent and easier to blend into a layout.

Rectangle or ellipse?

Rectangle feathering follows the image frame and can target individual sides. Ellipse feathering keeps a central subject visible and softens the area around it.

How much feathering should I use?

Start around 20–30% width. Increase softness for atmospheric blends, or reduce it when the subject sits close to the edge.
