How do I make an image semi-transparent?

What opacity should I choose?
Try 50–70% for overlays and supporting imagery. For watermarks or very subtle backgrounds, 15–35% is often a better starting point.
Why not export as JPEG?
JPEG does not preserve an alpha channel. Use PNG or WebP if the semi-transparent image needs to remain transparent when placed elsewhere.
